Let’s be real: Your phone is everything. It’s how you keep in touch with friends, stay updated on the world and maybe even relax. But it can also feel like … a lot. If you’ve ever closed an app and felt more stressed than before, you’re not alone. There’s a name for it: digital overwhelm.
Whether it’s news about the world or just too much drama online, this blog can help you find a better balance.

How to stay informed (without letting it wreck your mood):
Check in with your feelings. Before you scroll, pause for a second. Ask yourself: “Am I feeling OK right now? Is scrolling going to help me or make things worse?” It’s OK to take a break if you need one.
Pick your sources (and limit them). You don’t need to follow 20 news outlets. Choose one or two places you trust for updates, and set a time limit so you’re not stuck in a scroll spiral.
Practice mindful tech use. When you go online, go with a purpose and ask yourself: “Am I looking for something specific? Am I bored? Am I stressed?” Being aware helps you stay in control.
Unplug to recharge. Take time to go outside without your phone, stretch, listen to music or talk to someone you trust. Real-life connection is one of the best ways to reset.
Reflection questions:
- How does your body feel when you’ve been on your phone for a long time?
- What’s one app you can take a break from this week?
- Can you make a “tech-free” time in your day — even just 30 minutes?
